In the Area - Our Recommendations

These are just a few suggestions. There is plenty yet to explore

Litzlol Diving Club, Bustan HaGalil

Eilat is not the only place to dive in Israel. The north also has its fair share of breathtaking(!) underwater scenery.

Diving in underwater caves, grottoes and canyons; a plethora of geographic and biologic variety at a range of depths.

Group dives, refresher courses, or trial dives with an accompanying guide can all be arranged according to your level of experience. For further details:

Tornado Boat Tour & Snorkeling

Galei Yam, Achziv

Wet and windy adventures for the hardy!

If you’re looking to bounce across the waves, swim or snorkel around the islands off the Achziv beach, then this is for you. Jetting along in a light, high-speed, yet incredibly safe, Rigid Inflatable Boat of Galei Yam from the very beaches outside the Beach House, just two minutes away!

Immediately to the north lies the Banana Beach, a managed stretch of coastline with lifeguard, restaurant, bar, and other attractions.

Beyond that, the Achziv National Park segues into more unspoiled beaches and coves, before rising to the cliffs and grottoes of Rosh Hanikra just 6km away, which can be explored cable-car or simply enjoy the views from the restaurant at the top.

Nahariya Akko (Acre)

A few kilometers to the south lies the city of Nahariya. This is the central town of the area and a good place for shopping, malls, and restaurants. This is the northernmost stop for the coastal train.

A little further to the south is the ancient port town of Akko (Acre) where old meets new and east meets west. The old Ottoman town built upon the older Crusader fortress at the heart of a modern town bustles with the colorful markets and sounds of a multi-cultural centre, where respite can be found in the serenity of the Bahai Gardens.

Treat yourself to a tour of the local markets, your senses to the wonderful tastes, and your head to the fascinating stories from knowledgeable guides.

Before embarking on any trip, it is always a good idea to get the latest routes, directions and hours from local sites.

Nahal Kziv (including Ein Hardalit, Ein Tamir, Monfort Castle):

There are routes of varying difficulties so there is something for everyone on what is one of the most beautiful trails in Israel. Perennial springs and a flowing stream, pools, lush vegetation, a Crusader castle, cliffs, panoramic vistas,… .

Not to be missed. Especially on hot summer days!

Nahal Betzet (and Nahal Sharach):

A charming and not too challenging hike through beautiful countyside. For cave lovers, there is a somewhat challenging smallish cave on Nahal Sharach (during the summer months only).

Keshet Cave (and Namir Cave):

More an arch than a cave, this natural monument is in the Adamit Park from where it challenges the brave-at-heart to abseil off it. It commands panoramic views of the coast down to Haifa and across the Galil to the south and east. The park’s paths suit all abilities and picnic spots are plentiful.

On the return to Achziv, a steep path leads down to another small cave, the Namir cave. This time the intrepid are rewarded with the marvel of stalactites and stalagmites.

Yehiam Fortress (National Park):

Ruins of an Ottoman fortress built on a Crusader one that played a strategic role in the War of Independence.

Gaaton Ruins:

Relatively unknown, these are the ruins of an ancient Israelite farming settlement dating back to the time of King Solomon, that was later developed under the Crusaders until built into a fine manor house by the Sursock family of Beirut. It was abandoned shortly after the 1948 War of Independence.

Couronne Patisserie, Kibbutz Evron

These days there are many boutique bakeries and patisseries across Israel. Still, Couronne stands out – and not only because of its remote location.

The young maitresse patissiere, Atar Cohen Tournois, having learnt from leaders in the field in Israel and Paris, established this shrine to baked goods before which all resolutions must crumble.

Simply irresistible!

Opening hours: Sun -Thu 8:00-18:00, Fri 8:00-14:00.

La Pampa, Mitzpe Hila

For the dedicated carnivore. Dining here is taken as seriously as the smoking of the meats, and at a similar pace. But don’t be intimidated – the owners and family/staff take what they do seriously but not themselves, and this combines to a delightfully hedonistic evening’s experience.

Opening hours: Thu, Fri evenings only. Bookings must be made in advance.

During the week they offer bounteous picnic hampers or, if looking for a little extra spice, they will set up a picnic for you at a secret outdoor location…

Shefi’s, Manot

Restaurant, bar, brewery, distillery, vineyard, neighbourhood pub, panoramic views… This place has it all!

And if that’s not enough, the fare is really good and the atmosphere friendly and welcoming.

Opening hours: Sun-Thu 12:30-21:30, Fri 11:00-16:00
